David Fife is the owner and Head Acupuncturist of Lake Country Acupuncture. David was born in Banbury, England and moved to the U.S. in the early 90’s. He lives in Wales with his wife, Julie and their daughter. We’d like to thank David for taking some time to chat with us about his Lake Country life.

Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “My twin brother Daniel got into Kung Fu in the late 90’s and was involved at ShaoLin Center in Waukesha. I started practicing there and met Steven Kleppe, who is my ‘Sifu’ or mentor. This led me into Chinese Kung Fu, which is a branch of the medical system. I applied to London College of Tradition Acupuncture, and also studied in China.”

Q. What is your favorite restaurant in Lake Country, and what do you love there?
A. “Ella’s Public House in Wales, they have a great burger.”

Q. How long have you lived or worked in Lake Country?
A. “I’m an Arrowhead grad and lived here from ‘93 to 2001, and have now lived in Wales since 2005.”

Q. Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Lake Country?
“Steven Kleppe of ShaoLin Center, he is my sifu, or mentor.”

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?
A. “The South Pacific.”

Q. What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?
A. “My favorite movie is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Johnny Depp does a great job portraying Hunter S. Thompson, a fantastic American writer.”

Q. What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A. “Eliminate stress from your life as much as you can. Balance the physical, emotional, chemical and environmental stress through functional means.”

Q. What is something on your bucket list?
A. “I’d love to record an album and have it be well recognized, as well as gain some notoriety for songwriting. I’d also like to travel the world with my family.”

Q. What is your favorite music/three artists you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A. “Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and Bob Marley.”

Q. What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Lake Country?
A. “Dick’s Bait Shop and the old Cobblestone Inn.”

Q. Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?
A. “Expanding the practice here, being at peace, happy and healthy, with a strong family.”

Q. Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A. “My Mom is from Nottingham, England and my Dad is a Texan, and I possess dual citizenship in the U.S. and Great Britain.  Also, I have an identical twin.”

Q. What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word home?
A. “Peacefulness, grounded/rooted, grateful.”

Q. If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A. “Benicio del Toro.”
