Let’s give a warm “Spotlight on Seniors” welcome to Jackson Dillemuth – Pewaukee High School
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am the youngest of 4 children. I have 2 older sisters and 1 older brother. My mom works with kids with autism and my Dad works at Badger Meter as the Senior Manager of Customer Care. I have two dogs, Ollie and Henry and a cat named Mo.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Sports – especially football, reading, and working with my hands building things.
Tell us about one of your favorite classes in school.
I have two favorite classes this year, Physics and Calc. I enjoy them because they are challenging new subjects you don’t explore or see often before getting to an advanced level. They challenge me to think differently about these subjects and the world in general.
What’s your least favorite?
My least favorite class is English.
Do you have a favorite memory from the school year?
My favorite memory from this year is yet to come with hopeful success on the three AP tests I’m taking, and my Insight presentation.
What’s something you worked hard on this past year, a moment or an achievement you’re particularly proud of?
Maintaining my above 4.1 GPA through difficult classes, including 3 AP classes and an Insight course. Insight courses are designed to challenge students in real-world applications.
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming year?
Getting into a new environment and focusing my school work on engineering classes.
What are some of your goals (academic, sports, personal)?
In college, I want to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher and join lots of extracurriculars.
What is something you are good at and/or enjoy doing?
I am good at problem solving and enjoy solving practical problems using math and science.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I hope to be working as a mechanical engineer, solving problems in real world applications.
Explain a time you wanted to give up but didn’t?
I was struggling this past year with mental health challenges and I wanted to quit many things, including a sport I was very attached to, football. With my Mom and Dad’s help, they pushed me to get slowly back into things. Once practices started I was reminded how much football meant to me, and how much I loved being with teammates and friends and just playing the game. It led to a decent amount of success in the season, and I had a major role in that success.
What are your favorite memories?
My junior year we won state for football. It was the first time in school history.
Is there someone special who you admire?
I admire my Dad because he is helpful and gives me valuable life lessons.
Do you have plans for the future?
I plan to attend UW Platteville in the fall studying mechanical engineering.
What is one thing that would make your school better?
If they made things more prestigious like high honor roll and NHS.
What advice would you give to an incoming student?
Take a variety of electives to see what you are interested in. You might be surprised with what you like.
A Message to Jack from His Family!
Jack, we are so proud of the man you are becoming. When taking on a task you humbly strive to do the best you can. Whether in sports or academics you push yourself and others to be the best they can. Your care and commitment to any task you take on is evident. You are helpful, and do so without complaining. Whether it’s mowing grandmas yard or picking up your brother you do so with a joyful heart. You are respectful and kind, but also not afraid to speak your mind. All of these qualities will get you far in life. We are so excited to watch you grow even more in college, even though the house will become suddenly so much quieter. Have fun at UW Platteville. Go make new experiences and memories. And remember, it’s ok to get a B.
Love, Mom and Dad
