Olivia Smith

Let’s give a warm “Spotlight on Seniors” welcome to Olivia Smith – Brookfield Academy

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have two younger siblings, a brother and a sister, who love sports and go to the same school as me. I play on the same soccer team as my sister and I occasionally take my brother on in a 1v1 in basketball. My dad and I take a yearly hiking trip for a few days and we’re taking a motorcycle class this summer to get our motorcycle license, which we’re both super excited about. My mom and I love to go shopping together, go out to eat, and are very close in general.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I love sports and doing anything outside. My two dogs, Argos and Medusa, and I, like to take walks at Lapham Peak in Delafield. Throughout high school I played volleyball and soccer and enjoyed being on a team. I volunteer quite often at Lake Country Caring, LifeStriders, and The Wildlife In Need Center which I also love to do. Spending time with the horses, especially, at LifeStriders, and outside in the garden at The Wildlife In Need Center are two places I love.

Tell us about one of your favorite classes in school.

I love to read and talk about books, so English is by far my favorite class. Writing is another enjoyment as well, usually my own stories but I’ll write an essay on my perspective of a book every once-in-a-while.

What’s your least favorite?

My least favorite class would definitely have to be Physics. I liked Biology, but I’m not a big science person in general.

Do you have a favorite memory from the school year?

My school had a girls powderpuff kickball game and winning with the rest of the seniors against the juniors was super fun!

What’s something you worked hard on this past year, a moment or an achievement you’re particularly proud of?

I focused a lot on working this past year, especially this winter since I wanted to save more money for college and keep earning my own money. At work I picked up a lot of shifts and enjoyed working more since I do like going to my job every weekend.

What are you looking forward to in the upcoming year?

I’m looking forward to meeting new people and going to the University of Florida this fall! I can’t wait to be a Gator!

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I hope I take the time to travel once I finish college. I really want to try living somewhere different that’s maybe not in the U.S. for the unique experiences.

What are your favorite memories?

Winning the state title for soccer during my sophomore season of high school

Is there someone special who you admire?

My parents.

If you could do anything, what would it be?

Start my own volunteer organization!

What do you love about Lake Country area?

All of the lakes around us that I can go paddle boarding on.

What advice would you give to an incoming student?

Definitely go to all of the sports games since they’re really fun to attend and it’s more fun for the athlete when people are cheering them on!

A Message to Olivia from her parents!

As her parents, we could not be more proud of the person Olivia has become. Beyond all that she has accomplished through sports, work, and academics, she has taken opportunities and made them her own. She is as independent as she is thoughtful, and this combination makes for a dynamic young adult. We are beyond words and look forward to all that she will accomplish in her life and the many she will impact. Olivia will join the University of Florida in the fall, and we are thrilled for her.  Go Gators!
