Rachel Reed - Lake County Mom

We are excited to share an interview of another wonderful individual in our community – someone who is generous and creative, with a big heart and focus for Lake Country. Meet Rachel Reed! She is a mom to a new college student, an RN and director of nursing at a local nursing facility, and the individual who started the popular local blog, The Lake Country Mom.

Rachel started the blog in 2013 when she was a young mom, and over the years it has grown into a hub of local information for the community! The mission of The Lake Country Mom is to “build a sense of community for readers through sharing and creating local events, businesses, personal stories, reviews, networking and collaboration.” Rachel’s goal is to support local businesses and build community.

Rachel wears many hats, and she rocks them all! Her drive and generosity for the community are so inspiring and something we are grateful for! We hope you love learning more about her below.

About Rachel Reed

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

We live in Lisbon, and our daughter is a new freshman at UW-Madison! We are new empty nesters!

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I mentioned that I run the blog, The Lake Country Mom. It’s a website/blog and event calendar. We try to keep the Lake Country community connected and “in the know”. We create events, and we try to do good for our community, especially during the holiday seasons. My blog came to be when I was a young mom looking for fun things to do, and I started sharing them. It blossomed into something better than I ever imagined. I’m also a full time RN where I work as a director of nursing at a skilled nursing facility. I love what I do!

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

Building connections in our community. Sharing all the new findings and great stories.

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

I became an RN later in life and it was no easy feat getting there, but also my blog has been a learning experience after all these years.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

The people! The support.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

Learn. Listen to podcasts. Follow smart people. Take the advice. Read books. Learn social media. Watch videos. Be yourself. Don’t compare.
