After moving to the Lake Country area in 2004, Alex Konen spent most of his school years there without a clear idea of his future profession or how he could contribute to society. However, everything changed when he took on a senior project that challenged him to explore his interests and goals. Through this experience, he developed a passion for public safety, particularly in the fire service, where he could offer support to community members in times of need. With courage, Alex applied to join his local fire department as a high school senior, just before graduation. Now, nearly 12 years later, he feels privileged to serve his local communities as a full-time firefighter.
As a Deputy Chief of Training, each day presents a dynamic blend of challenges and rewards. In this pivotal role, I find myself at the intersection of leadership, mentorship, and the relentless pursuit of excellence within the fire service. Guiding aspiring firefighters and seasoned professionals alike, I am entrusted with the crucial task of cultivating a culture of continuous learning and development. From designing comprehensive training programs to fostering a supportive environment where individuals can thrive, my role revolves around shaping the next generation of first responders. It’s a journey marked by dedication, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our communities.

I have two brothers and two sisters. My childhood was in West Allis, WI, but around 2004, my family and I moved to Hartland, WI. In September of 2022, I tied the knot with my amazing wife, and now we’re a family of three, including our beloved German Shepherd.
