Chandi Asha was born and raised in Michigan. While still in elementary school, her mother decided to relocate their large family to Wisconsin. Along with her seven siblings, they settled in the beautiful Lake Country area, where she eventually graduated from Oconomowoc High School. Growing up in a house filled with family, one might assume her childhood was grand and full of joy, but the reality was far from that.
The turning point in her life came with the tragic loss of her oldest brother. It was in the aftermath of that heartbreaking event that she started to see just how deeply the trauma experienced as children had affected she and her siblings. This realization sparked a deep curiosity within—a need to understand why people behave the way they do. This led to pursuing a degree in behavioral science through the University of Phoenix. Chandi was driven by the hope that she could uncover some of the answers she sought.
Making a Difference
With a strong desire to make a difference, especially in the lives of children, she accepted a position working with youth in Milwaukee County. These were young individuals who, like her, faced significant challenges in their home environments. Her work there was eye-opening, seeing firsthand how many people carry profound stories of struggle and resilience. This experience fueled her determination to find a way to offer support to those who had endured similar hardships.
After careful consideration and research, she decided to pursue professional coaching certifications through the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, focusing on becoming a recovery coach. Today, she’s fortunate to work with some truly remarkable individuals who have faced their own battles and are on a journey to healing. Being able to contribute to their path of healing brings her a sense of joy and fulfillment that she wouldn’t trade for anything.
About Chandi Asha
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband, Zak, is a MIAD alumni, Wisconsin artist and Industrial Designer by trade. Shay, our daughter, is 5 and loving kindergarten! Together, we recently moved back to the Lake Country area and have spent the past year remodeling our home and tending to our chickens.
Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?
I am a certified professional recovery coach specializing in addiction recovery and trauma. My journey began with my own struggles, including childhood wounds and the loss of my brother, which ignited a deep passion within me to support others on their path to healing. Every person has a unique story, and I am committed to guiding individuals through theirs, helping them find purpose and embrace a life of healing.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
I love helping others figure out how to align themselves with their values.
Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?
The amount of personal healing and growth I had to do and am still doing. Let’s face it, we all have growing to do and as a coach I have to be a model of my own advice.
Q: What is the most rewarding part?
Knowing that you are healing someone’s inner child that was denied or deprived of the love they truly deserved.
Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?
I would love to engage in public speaking events, perhaps in schools.
Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?
If someone wanted to embark a career path in coaching, I would encourage them to ask themselves 1. “What knowledge could I provide that would be a positive benefit to someone else?” and 2. “What kind of coach am I?”
Chandi Asha & Our Community
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)
My family loves every outdoor activity you can think of! If we are not kayaking on Beaver Lake or Nagawicka Lake, then you can find us at our favorite spots to eat like Contento or Fish Bones in Delafield. Our daughter keeps us very busy. We love all the community events that take place in Lake Country, like Thursday Night Live in Hartland, which we go to just about every time in the summer. With fall approaching, we are eager to enjoy our cool evening walks in Lapham with our warm mug of apple cider!
Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?
Palmer’s Steak House in Hartland is a go-to for my husband and I during the winter due to their ambiance. I would love to try more coffee shops in the area, currently my go-to is my drip coffee maker at home. Nothing beats a freshly brewed cup of joe in the morning!
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?
Family-oriented, Friendly, Inspiring.
For Fun
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy singing and playing the piano.
Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?
The Courage to be Disliked by Kishimi and Koga – it is a book geared towards how to achieve real happiness in life and I have tailored my coaching strategies towards some of its philosophy.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
This will sound cheesy, but MY HUSBAND. I have yet to meet someone who is so unapologetically supportive. His grace, patience, and support has truly served as a lesson for me.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with? Why?
My father. He passed away a week before my husband and I were to marry due to pancreatic cancer. My father was such a compassionate man with a love for his children and the outdoors.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Fly to Europe and see castles!
Q: What makes you the happiest?
My family.

Nice To Meet You:
I believe in positively impacting my clients and the community I live in, which is why I jumped at the chance to be an ambassador with “The Faces of Lake Country”. It’s a perfect blend of why I enjoy being a Realtor with Shorewest, Realtors, and everything I love about living in Lake Country.
I truly enjoy being a part of this community and helping others along the way. Prior to real estate, I was an Office Supervisor for the City of Waukesha Park & Recreation Department. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with many business owners and serve the general public. It was there that I realized that it really does take a village to make a community great and each and every one of us plays an important role.
