Cody Alimondi believes the professional work we choose to engage in is important. It influences who we are, who we become, and how we experience life. For the last decade, he has been in the pursuit of understanding and designing professional work in a way that enables individuals to be great in what they do. Just like many things in life, context matters, but there are universal principles that have yet to become standard in the modern world of professional work. It is his obsession to bring these universal principles to light and guide companies and individuals to look at professional work differently. Hopefully, by doing so, we can develop a positive relationship with our professions, as something that is a positive part of our life instead of a necessary evil.
About Cody Alimondi
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife and I have been married for 7 years. We have two little girls, and a German Shepherd.
Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?
I am a Work Psychologist that focuses on solving people challenges for companies, and helps guide individuals to engage in professions they find interesting. This path was not necessarily chosen, this path was something that was created over time. I noticed a gap in how people challenges were being solved. From my perspective, most of the time the challenges were solving weak remedies that retained the existing structure. The problem with this is that the work design – structure – was the problem. I instead chose to look at the structure as being part of the problem or challenge instead of signing out the people.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
The uniqueness of situation, every work opportunity, every individual coupled with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on someones life is what I love most about my profession. My goal is to connect interesting people with interesting work opportunities. How I do that depends on the context of the situation.
Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?
A great challenge in getting to where I am in life now is learning to stop thinking in the structures or principles that are popular or common and begin thinking for myself even though often its in a way that challenges conventional wisdom. What I have discovered is that some people don’t like when you challenge the status quo and with that comes challenges. However, if you have spent the time cultivating your knowledge in your profession it becomes clear that most fear a challenging view point because its different not because it is wrong. From this perspective you need to acquire courage to stand up for what you believe and know is right, even if that means you will be misunderstood, doubted, and unappreciated.
Q: What is the most rewarding part?
Having a positive relationship with my profession, and finding purpose, meaning, and fulfillment in it.
Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?
Our goal is simple, to offer people a different way to think about professional work. We have workshops coming up in which we will help individuals throught whatever challenges they are currently facing in their professions. Additionally, my first book, Path Pavers; A Guide for Interesting Work comes out this summer -2024.
Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?
Challenge the traditional models and develop the courage to think for yourself.

Nice To Meet You:
I believe in positively impacting my clients and the community I live in, which is why I jumped at the chance to be an ambassador with “The Faces of Lake Country”. It’s a perfect blend of why I enjoy being a Realtor with Shorewest, Realtors, and everything I love about living in Lake Country.
I truly enjoy being a part of this community and helping others along the way. Prior to real estate, I was an Office Supervisor for the City of Waukesha Park & Recreation Department. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with many business owners and serve the general public. It was there that I realized that it really does take a village to make a community great and each and every one of us plays an important role.
