Lucas Nelson

Lucas was nominated by a BE Fitness Member.  This is what they had to say: “I would like to nominate Lucas Nelson, a dedicated personal trainer at Be Fitness in Delafield. Lucas created the Be Sports Performance program, where he trains student-athletes across the Lake Country area, helping them reach their full potential. In addition to group training, he works one-on-one with students to refine their skills in specific sports. His expertise extends beyond athletes— he trains individuals of all ages, including myself. At 72 years old and living with MS, I have worked with Lucas for over five years, and his guidance has been instrumental in helping me manage my symptoms. His dedication and impact make him truly deserving of this recognition.”

About Lucas Nelson

Hi, My name is Lucas Nelson, and I live just north of downtown Delafield where my wife and I purchased a home in February of 2021. Shortly after, we had a son in July of 2022, August Walter Nelson, named after his grandpa’s.

I grew up in a small town several miles north of Lake Country, Neosho. A farm community where my mom and dad raised me and my two brothers. My wife is from Sun Prairie, and we decided that Lake Country was a good common ground to establish our lives.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have 1 child, August Walter Nelson, born on the 4th of July 2022.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I run a sports program at Be Fitness in Delafield as well as personal train. I’ve been involved with sports and activity my whole life, I have so much passion for health and wellness and development.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

You can help a young athlete’s path through training and my personal experience playing sports.

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

Continuing to have passion for what I do.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Seeing others being rewarded for all their hard work and helping in that process.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

Continuing to grow my business and help every single athlete and individual that I can.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Showing passion for something you enjoy doing is contagious and people will buy into your process. Always give 100% no matter what.

Lucas Nelson & Our Community

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)

My favorite thing is the diversity that this community has to offer. From fancy restaurants to a couple local dive bars, you literally have everything at your fingertips. One of my favorite things is throwing my son in a backpack and hiking Lapham Peak, shooting bow in my back yard, walking to downtown and grabbing some food, or biking down HWY C to work.

Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?

John Gehl, Faye Gehl Conservation Foundation. With all this development going on around this area, John’s vision is preserving the landscape back to its original state, prairie, undeveloped, farm to table. His vision is a dream of mine.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

There’s nothing better than knocking down an ice-cold High Life at Kuhtz’s General Store.

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Up north feeling.

For Fun

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I won a national championship in football when I was in college.

Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?

Toby Keith- Should Have Been A Cowboy… just a great song.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My Dad, no question.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Moose hunt in Alaska.

Q: What makes you the happiest?

Being with my son and family of course, but there’s nothing better than watching a sunrise or sunset sitting in my tree stand on a peaceful day.

Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?

You write your own book, don’t worry what anyone else is doing.
