About Madaline Rumohr

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have two parents, Katie and Brock Rumohr, and two older brothers, Charlie and Mason, whom I look up to very much!

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

This year I decided to become a candidate for the Student Visonaries of the Year campaign through the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society. The campaign is a seven week development program for high schoolers in the area who compete to see who can raise the most money for LLS. I chose to participate and lead my team in honor of my grandpa, Doug Lange, who has non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

I am also on the varsity tennis team, and I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the gym, babysitting and playing guitar.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most about the LLS campaign challenge is how I get to make an immediate impact on my community by fundraising and earning money for cancer patients and their families. I love that even though I am only in high school, I am able to do what I love, which is helping people. All while still learning valuable communication and leadership skills that I can use for the rest of my life.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

The most rewarding part will be at the end of my campaign when I know that my team has raised a certain amount of money and when I can see how that money helps blood cancer patients and their families.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

The seven weeks where we begin the kickoff for fundraising for LLS is something that my entire team is looking forward to and working on right now. For our location, our seven weeks start on February 20th, 2025, so my team and I are doing lots to prepare and get ready for it! Another thing that I am excited about, is the business that my partner and I have made in order to generate funds for cancer patients and their families.

My business partner, Amanda Zehelein, and I have had the opportunity to create a business through the Global Business Insight program at our school. Here, we turned our passion for helping cancer patients into a clothing line while partnering with LLS! Our business is called Mission to Remission Designs, and we made sweatshirts that all have a unique way of spreading awareness for blood cancer patients through fashion. I can’t wait to see how our clothing makes an impact!

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

If someone in high school came to me and said that they wanted to help people but didn’t know how, I would say pick a cause that you really feel passionate about, and find a way to make it happen. Even though we are young, we can still make a difference. You just have to find a way to start and the rest will follow.

Madaline Rumohr & Our Community

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)

One of my favorite things about our community is the way that people are so willing to give back. Pewaukee is filled with generous people who want to see the world become a better place. That is why I can’t wait to start fundraising, because I know that our community will rally together to help those who really need it.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

My favorite coffee shop is the Panera in Pewaukee. Not only does it have good food and drinks but every week there are tons of students who go there to study and do homework! Panera is our go-to study session spot. Some of my best high school memories are from meeting up with my friends there for numerous projects or tests!

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

3 words I would use to describe our community is strong, unified and supportive.

For Fun

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Something interesting that most people don’t know about me is that I play guitar and have been in band!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

Someone who inspires me to be better is my mentor for my student visionary of the year campaign, Hannah Reynolds. She is very knowledgeable about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is also a strong leader who is super driven to make a positive difference for cancer patient’s lives. You can tell from the way that she leads how passionate she is about helping others. I look up to her and how hard she works everyday!

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Something on my bucket list is traveling to Paris, France. Ever since I was a little girl I have always been fascinated by Paris and everything about it. From the language they speak to the tourist attractions, I hope one day I can experience it!

Q: What makes you the happiest?

I love sunsets. Watching them are one of the things that make me very happy. I think there’s something so beautiful about sunsets because they are proof that there is beauty in endings. They are also just really pretty and calming!

Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?

The best advice I have ever gotten is from my older brother Charlie. Whenever something would go wrong, he would always remind me that “that’s just life” which reminds me that nothing lasts forever. We can always just try again when something goes wrong! “That’s life” or “cest le vie” is a good reminder that everything happens for a reason. We can’t control everything, but we can control how we react to the challenges that face us.
