Ryan Jacobs is a proud Kettle Moraine graduate, and his journey has been both rich and varied. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served for four years of active duty at Camp Pendleton, CA, and Okinawa, Japan. Following his time in the military, he decided to stay in California and explored the world of customer service as a sales representative with Advanced Chemill Systems. This role opened incredible travel opportunities, allowing him to experience diverse cultures in places like Italy, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Australia, and Switzerland.
Eventually, he felt a strong pull toward public service and became a police officer with the Oceanside Police Department in California. However, his heart longed to return home to Wisconsin, so he moved back in 2005 and joined the Delafield Police Department. Today, he proudly serves as a Lieutenant there.
Missing the comradery he had in the military made him reconsider his path, and in 2014, Ryan discovered that the Wisconsin Army National Guard was eager to welcome him back. He now serves as a Master Sergeant with the Guard.
His journey reflects a deep commitment to serving others. He strives to blend his military experience with a genuine dedication to community safety, and he hopes to be a respected and valued figure in the areas he serves. This isn’t just a career for him; it’s a lifelong commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Each of the kids brings their own unique personality, making family time both fun and interesting. We love spending time together, whether it’s game nights, outdoor adventures, or just hanging out. It’s a beautiful mix of different backgrounds and experiences, and we cherish the bond we’ve built as a family.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
Many police officers love the opportunity to serve their communities and make a positive impact. Building relationships with residents, helping those in need, and contributing to public safety can be incredibly rewarding. The variety of daily challenges keeps the job interesting, and the sense of camaraderie with fellow officers often fosters a strong sense of teamwork and support.
Q: What is the most rewarding part?
The most rewarding part of being a police officer and serving in the Wisconsin Army National Guard is the opportunity to genuinely make a difference in people’s lives. As a police officer, I find it incredibly fulfilling to be there for individuals during their most challenging moments, whether it’s providing support in a crisis or building trust within the community. Those moments of connection remind me of why I chose this path.
In the National Guard, I take pride in serving alongside dedicated individuals who share a common mission. The camaraderie and teamwork are inspiring, and knowing that I’m contributing to something larger than myself—protecting our freedoms and supporting our community—gives me a profound sense of purpose. Both roles allow me to help others, grow personally and professionally, and be a part of something meaningful. It’s truly rewarding to know I’m making a positive impact, whether on the streets or through my military service.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?
For anyone interested in becoming a police officer, my advice would be to focus on building strong communication and problem-solving skills. It’s important to stay physically fit and develop resilience, as the job can be demanding. Additionally, getting involved in your community can provide valuable experience and insights into the role. Consider seeking mentorship from current officers to gain a better understanding of the profession. Ryan Jacobs & Our Community
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)
One of my favorite things about Oconomowoc is the beautiful lakefront and the sense of community it fosters. It’s a great spot for outdoor activities like boating and fishing, and I love how the area comes alive during the summer with events and gatherings in the downtown green space. The local parks and trails are fantastic for family outings, too. Oconomowoc has a unique small-town charm while still offering plenty of opportunities to connect with others, making it a wonderful place to call home.
Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?
My favorite coffee shop is Blue Collar Coffee; they have a great atmosphere and delicious brews. For a glass of wine, I love Wine Maniacs—it’s the perfect spot to unwind with a great selection and the food is top-notch. When it comes to dining, Bryant’s on the Round is my go-to restaurant, unfortunately, they only host special events and catering now. Their food is fantastic, and it’s a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.
I really love the vibe of a great dive bar too. There’s something special about the authenticity of the people and the atmosphere—it gives you a true glimpse into the area and its culture. Ole’s is one of those places that just feels unique; it has that welcoming, unpretentious charm that makes you want to linger. It’s where you can connect with others and enjoy some genuine conversations over a drink. Each of these places adds to the wonderful community vibe we have here!
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?
I would describe Lake Country, as scenic, welcoming, and vibrant. The natural beauty of the lakes and parks is stunning, the sense of community is strong, and there’s always something happening, from local events to outdoor activities. It truly embodies the charm of southern Wisconsin!
For Fun
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife, Jessica, inspires me to be better every day. Her unwavering support and positivity motivate me to strive for more. She embodies resilience and kindness, and seeing her dedication reminds me to keep pushing forward and to appreciate the little things in life. I’m grateful to have her by my side!
Q: If you were a drink (can be a coffee drink, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, etc.), what would you be?
In the morning, I love starting my day with a strong black coffee; it really sets the tone. By the afternoon, I switch things up with a Celsius for a refreshing boost of energy. And when evening rolls around, I enjoy winding down with a bourbon neat—it’s the perfect way to relax after a busy day. Each drink has its own special place in my routine!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
One item on my bucket list is definitely a trip to Greece. The stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture have always captivated me. I’d love to explore the ancient ruins, relax on the beautiful beaches, and indulge in the delicious food. It feels like a dream destination that combines adventure and relaxation perfectly!
Q: What makes you the happiest?
There’s something so freeing about a crisp fall day on a motorcycle. The changing leaves, the fresh air, and the open road all come together to create such a joyful experience. It’s like a perfect escape, connecting you with nature and giving you that rush of adventure.
Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?
Prioritize Relationships: Take the time to nurture your connections with family and friends. These meaningful bonds can bring immense support and joy, enriching your life in countless ways. Take Care of Yourself: Your physical and mental well-being is essential. Make it a habit to exercise, eat nourishing foods, and carve out moments for self-care. You can’t pour from an empty cup! Find Balance: Strive for a healthy mix of work, play, and rest. Getting caught up in responsibilities is easy, but overcommitting can lead to burnout. Remember to give yourself the space to recharge. Follow Your Passion: Chase after what truly excites you. The journey is often where real fulfillment lies, not just in reaching the destination. And above all, remember that everyone’s path is unique. Take what resonates with you and shape it into your own story!

Nice To Meet You:
I believe in positively impacting my clients and the community I live in, which is why I jumped at the chance to be an ambassador with “The Faces of Lake Country”. It’s a perfect blend of why I enjoy being a Realtor with Shorewest, Realtors, and everything I love about living in Lake Country.
I truly enjoy being a part of this community and helping others along the way. Prior to real estate, I was an Office Supervisor for the City of Waukesha Park & Recreation Department. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with many business owners and serve the general public. It was there that I realized that it really does take a village to make a community great and each and every one of us plays an important role.
