Benjamin Freeland

Benjamin Freeland was born and raised in Lake Country. He grew up in Delafield and graduated from Kettle Moraine High School. Growing up he enjoyed playing soccer, tennis, fishing, swimming, and spending time with friends. Ben moved to Oconomowoc in 2009 and purchased his first home.

He’s been in two industries in his career: the restaurant industry and the construction industry. Ben started working in the restaurant industry in 1993 at the age of 15, mostly working for a restaurant that many still enjoy today, Marty’s Pizza. He worked there for 16 years on and off, and managed there 7 of those 16 years. His construction career began at age 19 as a roofer, and carpenter shortly after. Ben worked his way up and got an opportunity to supervise commercial construction projects at age 26 and hasn’t looked back.

He’s worked his way from a laborer to owning a commercial design build construction company. For many years, his careers overlapped and he worked construction during the day and the restaurant at night. Today he enjoys spending time with family and friends, shooting pool, boating, and attending all of the fun activities that Lake Country has to offer.

About Benjamin Freeland

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I’m married to a wonderful woman, Jenny, and have three children. Gabriel is 19. Isaac 15, and Adeline almost 4.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I own and operate a company called Impact General, LLC. We are a commercial design build company that handles the design and construction of commercial, industrial, automotive, retail, dental, veterinary, and many others! We handle additions, remodeling and new construction.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

Helping businesses with their company building needs. Some need more space, some need a more efficient layout, some need a new look. I love learning about all the different types of businesses out there and its very gratifying helping them in their mission.

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

Probably the most difficult challenge we faced as a family was the cancer diagnosis of my middle child Isaac at the age of 8. He was in treatment for 3+ years, but we are very fortunate that he fully recovered and has been cancer free since 2019.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Having Isaac beat cancer and become cancer free was obviously the most rewarding, but during my sons battle with cancer the outpouring of support from this community was unbelievable. They say it takes a village, and we have the best village in the world!

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

Grow the company at a very slow and steady rate. I intend on keeping the company on the smaller side with very experienced personnel. This gives us the ability to give top industry customer service and quality.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Do what you know you excel at and do it with the right people around you. Don’t be afraid to take some risks.

There are so many things about this community that make it second to none, but if I had to sum it up it would be, I really feel like it’s a family. The community has supported our family through our tough time. There are always fun events happening in the area and we have amazing restaurants. Wisconsin Fitness Co. and Crossfit Rohkeus are two local gyms we enjoy.
