Brian Siegel

Born and raised in Milwaukee, I pursued my college education at UW-Madison before returning to Milwaukee to embark on my career in education. Throughout my teaching journey, I’ve had the opportunity to teach 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades, gaining valuable experience in the field. One of the highlights of my career was the year I spent teaching in Scotland before returning home to continue teaching. After serving as the Associate Principal at Pewaukee Lake Elementary for two years, I transitioned into the role of Principal four years ago. As a principal in the Pewaukee School District, I am dedicated to providing a positive and innovative atmosphere where students can thrive academically and personally and where teachers feel supported and empowered to make a difference in the lives of their students.

Mr. Seigel is known for his fantastic sense of humor. One memorable year, he even let the kids slime him in a kiddie pool! During the summer months, you can spot him cruising around in the bookmobile, bringing joy to different parks in the area.

Let’s extend our gratitude to Mr. Siegel for his invaluable contributions to our community and our students’ lives.

About Brian Siegel

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My wife, Hannah, and I are proud parents to two amazing children, Charlie and Evie, and we share our home in Elm Grove with our beloved dog, Norman. Hannah holds the position of Director of Development and Communications at the Women’s Center.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I have always loved working with others, and my love for working with children really came to light during my years as a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Minikani. I spent ten years on staff as a counselor as well as administrative staff.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

I have a deep appreciation for the students, their families, and the staff. Each of these groups enriches my workday with joy and fulfillment. The dynamic nature of education ensures that no two days are alike, keeping my work both exhilarating and rewarding.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

I get so much joy from watching students grow year after year. Seeing them develop a sense of wonder and excitement about the world around them is so rewarding.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Education is a passion, not a profession.

Brian Siegel & Our Community

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)

Pewaukee has such a strong sense of community, and the school district plays such an important part in that. The community rallies around the schools, and this shows through the number of volunteers that come into schools, the community involvement in strategic planning, and turnout at sporting events and parades to name a few.

Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?

This is impossible to narrow down. We have so many community volunteers that help out in our building, and all of them have such wonderful stories and backgrounds. They want to pass something along to the next generation and seeing their interactions with our youngest students is inspirational.

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Family, supportive, strong.

For Fun

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I’ve always enjoyed cooking. As a child, I loved watching cooking shows and spending time in the kitchen experimenting. My grandmother, who ran a bakery, played a big role in inspiring my love for food. I fondly remember watching her work and eagerly tasting her creations whenever I could.

Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?

Seinfeld… I probably quote it too often.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My children.

Q: What makes you the happiest?

Time with my family.

Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?

No matter what you choose to do, bringing happiness into the lives of others will always make it worth the effort.
