Greg Mueller

Today, we shine the spotlight on an exceptionally special bus driver. Greg Mueller’s route is none other than Bus 13, serving the Pewaukee School District.

Meet Greg Mueller, not just a bus driver but a dedicated and compassionate mentor on wheels. In the realm of student transportation, he transcends the ordinary. He turns each ride into a journey filled with warmth and joy. Beyond the conventional duties of ensuring safe travels, Greg Mueller has carved out a niche as the heart and soul of the school bus. His commitment to fostering a sense of community is evident in little things. Celebrating birthdays with contagious enthusiasm, organizing lively rounds of bingo, and even introducing a magical treasure chest brimming with surprises.

His impact extends far beyond the confines of the bus. He seamlessly transitions to the role of a proud supporter, shuttling the girls’ volleyball team to and from games. What’s more, Greg dons yet another hat as he graces each match by playing the national anthem, contributing to the spirit and camaraderie that define the school experience. In a world where a bus ride might be perceived as mundane, Greg Mueller transforms it into a memorable and enriching part of every student’s day.  Check him out here!

This is what one individual had to say about Greg Mueller:  “I would like to express my gratitude to the driver of bus 13. As I accompany my daughter to PLE each day, I’ve witnessed moments of joy, laughter, and even birthday celebrations emanating from Bus 13. Your willingness to go the extra mile does not go unnoticed. It only takes a single act to brighten someone’s day, and you’ve managed to uplift every child and parent who passes by. Thank you for your awesome commitment to spreading positivity!”

About Greg Mueller

I always strive to bring a smile to the faces of those I interact with in my daily life. In addition to my role as a school bus driver in the Pewaukee community, I am also a musician. I’ve discovered that combining my passion for music with my driving responsibilities is a wonderful way to connect with the fantastic kids and individuals in our area.

Alongside my regular musical performances for the children, I take pleasure in devising imaginative ways to create cherished memories for them while ensuring their safety. Presently, I organize a ‘Bus Bingo’ game, where the kids receive two numbers for their journey home at the end of the school day. When they achieve a bingo, they get to open a special treasure chest brimming with small prizes. I’ve found that the quiet moments on the school bus, as the kids eagerly await the bingo numbers to be called, are a highlight of their day. If I come across a parent or parents walking with their child along the road and my bus is empty, I’ve been known to make a safe stop to let that child choose a gift as well.
In the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of playing the national anthem at several school events, all in an effort to make our world a better place in any small way I can. Additionally, I am proud to share that I am a cancer survivor since 2004, with no re-occurrence to date.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am blessed to be married and the proud father of an incredible daughter and son. In addition to my own kids, I have the privilege of having two wonderful stepchildren and am grandfather to four cherished grandkids. My daughter is doing important work at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. My son spent a decade teaching English in Japan before embarking on his next adventure in China, where he continues to make a positive impact through education. In Illinois, my stepson serves as an Emergency Management Specialist, contributing to the safety and well-being of his community. My stepdaughter is currently pursuing her education in college.

I’m eagerly looking forward to visiting my parents in Florida in December, particularly to join in celebrating my dad’s remarkable 90th birthday. Family is a source of immense gratitude and joy in my life.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

Currently, I find immense joy in my role as a school bus driver in the Pewaukee area, serving children from 4K through 12th grade, with the occasional opportunity to drive a motor coach bus for special trips. My professional journey has included various positions at Deluxe Corporation, where I honed my skills in customer service, assistant management, sales and service representation, and business events expertise, including project management.

More recently, at Go Riteway Transportation, I’ve taken on roles as an assistant manager and operations manager before transitioning to my current and most fulfilling position as a school bus driver. While each of these roles has been rewarding in its own way, the role I find most gratifying is my current one, where I have the privilege of driving and making a positive impact on the lives of the kids I serve.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

Making a positive difference in the lives of others is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of any job or endeavor. Whether it’s through your work as a school bus driver, your past experiences in various professional roles, or any other meaningful contribution. The impact you have on the lives of those you interact with can be incredibly meaningful and long-lasting. I believe in making a positive difference and inspiring others.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Simply seeing the smiles of the kids and knowing you’ve hit the mark!

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

By next year, I hope to accumulate sufficient funds to acquire sound equipment and relaunch my band with a special focus on serving the surrounding communities, specifically at events catering to special needs individuals, children, and the elderly. I believe in the profound impact of music in bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of unity. The acquisition of sound equipment will enable us to spread happiness and create enduring memories for these diverse groups. I am dedicated to using music as a means of giving back and enriching the lives of those in our community, and I am excited about the opportunities this new chapter will bring.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Everyone has different gifts. Identify your gifts and strengths while using them to make a positive difference.

Greg Mueller & Our Community

Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?

In our community, we are fortunate to have many inspiring individuals. If I were to cast my vote for the most inspirational, it would undoubtedly go to the Terrian Twins, who are currently students at Pewaukee High School. These remarkable young individuals embody the very values that I hold dear: humility, respect, kindness, selflessness, and boundless joy. Their genuine care for those in their midst is both heartwarming and humbling. I take immense pride in knowing them and their family. Even at such a tender age, they exhibit extraordinary composure and poise. They set an example for all of us to follow. The Terrian Twins are a true beacon of inspiration in our community.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

First Watch Cafe, Marty’s Pizza Delafield, and The Chocolate Factory by Pewaukee Lake are just a few.

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Alive, Scenic, Friendly.

For Fun

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I won a free online poker tournament years ago. That paid my $10,000.00 entry fee to play in a World Poker Tour event. The WPT event was to play for 1.5 million 1st place, 1 million 2nd place and so on… needless to say I still have my day job.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Playing the national anthem at a Milwaukee Bucks or Brewers game!

Q: What makes you the happiest?

Making a difference, being a positive role model and mentor, and serving others.

Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?

Great listening skills, sharing respect, empowering others, and delivering kindness are indeed key to building strong and harmonious relationships. When we actively listen to others, we not only show that we value their thoughts and feelings, but we also gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives. Respecting others and treating them with kindness is the foundation of a compassionate and supportive community.

Empowering others to reach their potential and achieve their goals is a powerful way to uplift those around us. It’s important to cultivate gratitude and appreciate the small joys in life, as they can bring immense happiness and fulfillment. These principles are the building blocks of a positive and harmonious existence.
