After 32 years of heartfelt dedication, guidance, and support, one of Kettle Moraine’s most beloved high school counselors is retiring this June—and what a legacy she leaves behind. From her early days as a case worker in New York City to answering a life-changing call from her sister to return to Wisconsin and pursue a degree in school counseling, she found her true calling—one that would bless thousands of students and families over the years.
Throughout her career, Kerry Neimon has been more than just a counselor. She’s been a steady presence, a guiding light, and a trusted confidante to K-12 students, their parents, fellow educators, and the broader community. Her greatest joy has come from the relationships she’s built—connections that have made a lasting impact across generations.
As she steps into retirement, we celebrate a remarkable career filled with compassion, commitment, and care. Our community has truly been blessed to have her in our schools, and her influence will be felt for years to come. Thank you for everything—you’ve made Kettle Moraine stronger, kinder, and better.
About Kerry Neimon
I have lived in Wisconsin my entire life; Rhinelander, Wauwatosa, Brookfield and now Delafield. However, after graduating from college, I did spend two years living in New York but came back to the state I love the most. I have traveled a lot in the US; my family owned an RV and we enjoyed seeing the country.
After seeing the USA, people will ask where did I enjoy going to the most. I don’t have a favorite place- the joy wasn’t where I went but in the people I was with, my family. I have also been fortunate to visit Germany, France, England, and Japan. Germany was interesting because I met my mothers pen pal during World War II. When I went to France and England, I was a chaperone for a KM high school trip. I went to Japan with a purpose; to speak to over 150 educators at a conference I led about teaching Character Education in their schools.
For many years in the evenings and weekends, you could find me working at school athletic events or volunteering in Lapham Peak State Park removing and burning invasive species. I have been a lot of places, but Delafield is my home.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am married to Michael Neimon who is a District Court Administrator for the State of Wisconsin. He and I have been married for 30 years. We have two children. Joseph is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and is a first lieutenant in the US Air Force. He is stationed at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. Alexander is also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is working at the Waukesha County Courthouse in the office of The Register of Deeds. We also have a dog named Gretl and a cat named Midnight.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?
I am a high school counselor in the Kettle Moraine School District and this June will be retiring after 32 years of working with children from K-12 grade. I chose this path because when I was working as a case worker in New York City, my sister called me and asked if I would like to move back to Wisconsin and go to graduate school with her to pursue a degree in School Counseling with her; I said sure and have never regretted that decision.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
I love building relationships with so many students, parents, staff and community members.
Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?
Although I was working with a lot of students with diverse needs – it was important to maintain a healthy work-life balance so I can be a good mom and supportive wife.
Q: What is the most rewarding part?
Seeing families, talking to them and getting updates on what they are doing now.
Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?
My future goals include making more time to be with my family and hiking in Utah. I am looking forward to working at the US Women’s Golf Open this May at Erin Hills and I plan to run a half marathon this summer at the AF Marathon in Dayton, Ohio.
Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?
Be a great listener, don’t be judgmental, be involved in your school outside of the school day and volunteer in your community.
Kerry Neimon & Our Community
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)
I love Lapham Peak; I love to walk and run in the park. My husband and I have helped cut and burn buckthorn in the Peak. I am a “Buckthorn Buster”.
Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?
My husband, really. He works over 40 hours a week at his job but he still manages to find time to volunteer in our subdivision, in the community and at Lapham Peak.
Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?
I like Kwik Trip. I can get groceries, gas, a treat for myself after a long day or even a last minute meal.
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?
Beautiful, safe and inviting.
For Fun
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was a case manager in NYC and I had a body guard to protect me and keep me safe when visiting my clients in the five boroughs.
Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?
The song Landslide. It reminds me how precious life is and to appreciate it.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family.
Q: If you were a drink (can be a coffee drink, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, etc.), what would you be?
Water.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with? Why?
God. I would love some answers to my questions that I have now and perhaps share some of my opinions.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would like to go rail biking.
Q: What makes you the happiest?
Being outdoors and being active.
Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?
Don’t worry so much. Did you know that according to a study by Cornell University, 85% of what people worry about never happens. This means that 97% of worries are either unfounded or manageable. Take risks. Find good in people.

Nice To Meet You:
I believe in positively impacting my clients and the community I live in, which is why I jumped at the chance to be an ambassador with “The Faces of Lake Country”. It’s a perfect blend of why I enjoy being a Realtor with Shorewest, Realtors, and everything I love about living in Lake Country.
I truly enjoy being a part of this community and helping others along the way. Prior to real estate, I was an Office Supervisor for the City of Waukesha Park & Recreation Department. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with many business owners and serve the general public. It was there that I realized that it really does take a village to make a community great and each and every one of us plays an important role.
