Meet Tracy Garon! Tracy is the choir teacher at Nature Hill Intermediate School in Oconomowoc, as well as the director of Oconomowoc Community Choir. We’d like to thank Tracy for sitting down with us to talk about her experiences in Lake Country.

Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, I just wasn’t sure if it would be phy ed or chemistry. There was a semester of weirdness that choir gave me, and I was inspired to teach that and give all kids a place to be.”

Q. What is your favorite restaurant in Lake Country, and what do you love there?
A. “The sandwiches and great coffee at Roots are my go to breakfast. For lunch, I love the beef stroganoff at Revere’s. When our music team is looking for atmosphere, we go to Kick Switch, which also has a great fish fry.”

Q. How long have you lived or worked in Lake Country?
A. “This is my fifth year teaching at Nature Hill Intermediate School, and I’ve lived in Oconomowoc for five years, also.”

Q. What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?
A. “‘Man on Fire’, because of the story line, music and soundtrack. I also am a fan of ‘Harry Potter 7, Part 2’.”

Q. What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A. “Don’t be afraid to be you, be proud to be you. Be the best version of yourself. Everybody has a place. Have confidence, believe and smile.”

Q. What is something on your bucket list?
A. “To visit Yellowstone National Park.”

Q. They can either be dead or alive, name three bands/artists you would like to see.
A. “Joni Mitchell, The Head and the Heart and Billy Joel.”

Q. What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Lake Country?
A. “Sherper’s, because it reminds me of driving through town with my Dad.”

Q. Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?  Why?  Where in Lake Country would you have lunch?
A. “Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of ‘Hamilton’ and ‘In the Heights’. I’d take him to lunch at Sobie’s, where I like the mushroom soup and the culture.”

Q. Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A. “I hate being the center of attention, being in front of crowds and being interviewed!” (Editor’s Note: We can attest to this statement. ???? )

Q. What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A. “Community, family and beauty.”

Q. If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A. “Sara Bareilles, who wrote the music and lyrics for the musical ‘Waitress’. Her songs always have a story.”
