Erika Altreuther has a strong sense of patriotism and a deep love for America. Moreover, she’s a fervent supporter of our military and appreciates their dedication and sacrifice for our country. She comes from a military family and understands the sacrifices they make. Originally from Madison, WI, she pursued a cosmetology career. After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, then to New York for modeling, she returned to Wisconsin in 2006 to continue cosmetology work. Fast forward to 2017, she was living in Nashotah, WI, happily married.
It was there that Burn Boot Camp Lake Country opened, and she introduced her friend Britt to the free camp they offered, and both instantly fell in love with it! After they both joined Burn Boot Camp, she gave birth to Reagan in 2018. Later, the first Burn Oconomowoc branch opened, prompting them to transfer there. It was at this location that she had the pleasure of meeting Sam, who played a significant role in transforming her post-baby body and improving her mental health. Meanwhile, Britt decided to become a trainer after her late mother and Erika encouraged her to take the test.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid pandemic, Burn Oconomowoc had to close its doors. As a result, they transferred to Burn Waukesha. However, in 2021, with the support of her husband, she seized the opportunity to open her own Burn Oconomowoc location, and was thrilled to have her favorite trainers, Sam and Britt, join her on this exciting journey.
About Erika Altreuther
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My parents reside in Madison, Wisconsin, while my sister, Christa, has her home in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Bryon and I are happily married, and we are blessed with a beautiful little girl named Reagan. Our family also includes two adorable dogs, Lucy and Carson.
Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?
I rent a chair at Salon Brillare, practicing cosmetology under my salon’s name, Erika Marie LLC. My work at the salon is part-time, as most of my time is devoted to running BURN Oconomowoc and cherishing precious moments with my family.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
I have a profound love for every aspect of Burn Ocon- the amazing members, the strong sense of community, and the dedicated trainers. It’s a place that truly brings joy and fulfillment to my heart.
Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?
Throughout the journey of finding a suitable location and dealing with construction challenges, we faced numerous obstacles. However, with perseverance and determination, everything eventually fell into place, and we successfully opened our doors in August 2022.
Q: What is the most rewarding part?
What I find most rewarding about running Burn Ocon is witnessing the remarkable transformations of our members. Observing them achieve their goals, hit their personal records, and witnessing their growth is truly heartwarming. There’s a special joy in seeing a member overcome self-doubt and accomplish something they thought was beyond their reach. The look of pride on their face is priceless. It never fails to give me goosebumps and often brings tears of happiness to my eyes, just reflecting on those incredible moments.
Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?
My ultimate future goal is to have a stand-alone building for Burn Oconomowoc, providing a permanent home for our community. To achieve this, my next immediate objective is to grow our membership to over 700 members. Currently, we have a little over 350 members, and with our newest promotional campaign on the horizon, I am optimistic that we’ll experience significant growth and reach our target. Exciting times lie ahead!
Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?
If I were to give advice, I’d suggest taking it one day at a time. The process can be incredibly stressful, but looking back, I can confidently say that every effort was worth it. Even when I couldn’t foresee the outcome, having faith in the process led to the realization of my dreams. So, stay patient and trust the journey ahead.
Erika Altreuther & Our Community
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)
The community at BURN BOOT CAMP is truly exceptional and stands out as one of its greatest assets. When you walk in, feeling nervous about your first camp, you’ll instantly find warmth and acceptance from our members. They embrace you with open arms, making you feel loved and supported, creating an environment that encourages you to return. Through Burn, I’ve formed numerous friendships, and it’s this incredible community that inspired me to open this location. It’s the heart and soul of what we do, and I’m grateful for the strong bonds we share within the Burn family.
Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?
At Burn, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting numerous inspiring and fascinating individuals like Brittanie, Sam, and our operations manager, Santasha. They are all amazing people, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with them. Moreover, there are several members whose support has been invaluable, and I can’t imagine where I’d be without them. Not to forget, the owners of BURN BOOT CAMP, Morgan, and Devan Kline, are two extraordinary individuals who continuously motivate and challenge you to be your best. It’s impossible to single out just one person because each of them has played a significant role in shaping my journey at Burn.
Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?
Whelan’s remains my absolute favorite coffee shop, and their delightful food only adds to the experience. On the other hand, Full Spoon Grab and Go also holds a special place in my heart for its fantastic food offerings. When it comes to great cocktails, Ectetera Bar and Grill is my go-to spot, and their delicious food complements the experience perfectly. Each of these places offers a unique culinary journey that I thoroughly enjoy.
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?
Supportive, Welcoming, and Inspiring.
For Fun
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
During my modeling days, I had the incredible opportunity to be featured on a billboard in New York City.
Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?
I don’t have a single favorite TV show; instead, I have a variety of genres that I love. Reality TV, crime shows, and of course, “Days of Our Lives” are among my top picks. Each offers a unique and enjoyable viewing experience for me. With a deep fondness for Britney Spears’ music, it’s no surprise that my favorite movie is “Crossroads.” Additionally, I have a soft spot for country music. Among my preferred movie genres, I thoroughly enjoy horror, suspense, and comedy films. Each of these genres brings a different kind of entertainment that I cherish.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My daughter serves as my inspiration to strive for improvement. I am committed to building a better future for her and demonstrating the value of hard work so she can look up to her proud mama.
Q: If you were a drink (can be a coffee drink, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, etc.), what would you be?
If I were a drink, I’d be a delightful fruit smoothie, blending ideas, creativity, and empathy to accommodate various tastes and moods. Sip on me, and you’ll experience a refreshing concoction of inspiration and understanding! ????✨????
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with? Why?
If I had the opportunity to have lunch with anyone, it would undoubtedly be Britney Spears. I don’t think I need a specific reason; it’s simply because she’s Britney Spears!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
One thing that’s on my bucket list is to take Reagan on a vacation. She’s never been on an airplane before, and I believe it will be a thrilling adventure for all three of us.
Q: What makes you the happiest?
Happiness, for me, lies in witnessing the joy of others. Perhaps one of my downfalls is caring too much about what people think, but I also consider it one of my strengths because I genuinely care and have abundant empathy for those around me.
Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?
My life advice is to take each day as it comes and avoid dwelling too much on the past or worrying about the future. It’s a lesson I’m still learning myself, but embracing the present moment can lead to greater peace and fulfillment in life.
