About Laura Chapman

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

We have 5 kids, chickens, 2 dogs & honey bees.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, growing up in Big Bend/Mukwonago before settling my family in Pewaukee in 2010. With over 25 years of experience, I am an established stylist and the proud owner of Spargo Salon Spa & MediSpa, Visiting Angels & some other staffing companies.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

My amazing team and the wonderful clients we get to serve.

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

We have always hustled and worked our butts off to be where we are today. Nothing has come easy or ever been handed to us. We’ve gone from living paycheck to paycheck and scraping whatever we could to make ends meet. We have a strong faith in God and he has always provided for us and never let us go without. My husband and I have always worked multiple jobs to do whatever we could to provide for our family. With all that said without faith we would have been disappointed and discouraged more times than not. But looking up we have always been optimistic about the future.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Hard work always pays off. Never give up. The people in our community we have gotten to meet, other business owners that have become fast friends. Supporting one another!

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

We definitely have some future goals, ideas, and expansion thoughts. However, those will need to stay on the DL for now.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Hustle! Hustle! Hustle! Work hard.

Brenda Wistl, owner of Harvest Home, my favorite little shop. Her creativity is beyond amazing.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

It’s so hard to pick! We try to always support local and hop around. We love our little downtown Pewaukee! Beach House Bistro, Artisan 179 & Billy Ho’s are some of our favorites. 5 o’clock Club has our favorite fish fry and Old-Fashioned’s. We love Sunset Grill in the warm months.

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Quaint, supportive, & tight knit.

For Fun

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I am incredibly introverted. I love people and can be outgoing. But I need to be alone to recharge and get peopled out pretty quick, I’m a major homebody. Being number 6 of 8 kids, I come from a large family.

Redeeming Love, The Seamstress & A Thousand Splendid Suns are my top 3 favorite books. Fried Green Tomatoes is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. It Is Well is probably one of my favorite songs of all time! The writer of the song’s story is so inspiring and heart wrenching. I love all versions of it. I’m also a huge Aerosmith fan and love Dream On!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My kids, hands down.

Q: If you were a drink (can be a coffee drink, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, etc.), what would you be?

I am a huge water drinker. Always have been. My vice is definitely a good glass of wine! I’d go with that! Some class with a little sass?!
