Bella Smith

Bella Smith is currently a Junior at Brookfield Academy. Her academic focus revolves around science coursework, and her aspirations involve pursuing a pre-med track in college. Outside of academics, she is deeply involved in the world of competitive cheerleading as an All-Star at Stingray AllStars. Remarkably, this marks her eighth year as a member of a competitive cheer team.

What sets her apart is her recent venture in March when she established her nonprofit organization, Dress Campaign, Inc. Based in Wisconsin, Dress Campaign is dedicated to repurposing formal dance dresses for high school students, ensuring that every teenager has access to their own dance attire. The experience of launching and managing her own nonprofit has been an incredible learning and growth opportunity. More importantly, it’s been exceptionally fulfilling to facilitate the distribution of dresses to numerous students across Wisconsin, making a positive impact in their lives.

If you’re interested in making a donation to this wonderful organization, Dress Campaign, Inc., your contribution can go a long way in supporting their mission of providing formal dance dresses to high school students in need and promoting fashion sustainability. Your generous donation will directly impact the lives of teenagers, ensuring they have the opportunity to experience those special moments with a dress of their own. To make a donation, you can visit the Dress Campaign, Inc. website or reach out to their team for more information on how to contribute and be a part of this impactful cause. Your support will undoubtedly make a difference and help continue their valuable work in the community.

About Bella Smith

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My family has been rooted in Lake Country for as long as I can remember. I have two siblings; my older sister, Olivia, is currently attending the University of Florida, while my younger brother, Jack, is in the 8th grade at Brookfield Academy. Our family resides in the picturesque community of Stone Bank, Wisconsin, which has been our cherished home throughout my life.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I am a student at Brookfield Academy. My venture, Dress Campaign, Inc., has had a huge impact on my thoughts about volunteering, serving others, and fashion sustainability. I chose to launch Dress Campaign, Inc. so that I could directly focus on giving back to other students and fashion sustainability. There is an abundance of dresses that are worn to formal events, yet only worn for a few hours and then hung in closets for years. All the while, other students may not have access to dresses for their own dances. Each student deserves a dress of their own for their special night.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

I love working with the high schools that agree to host dress drives and those that host dress drops. It is exciting to talk to other girls about their formal dances and the dresses they choose to wear.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

The most rewarding part of Dress Campaign, Inc. is to be part of other girls’ dance experiences and watch them go home with a dress.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

I am excited to expand Dress Campaign’s reach to additional high schools for the prom season. Through dress drives, Dress Campaign, has collected more than 150 donated dresses for girls to select from.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Find something you are passionate about/find something that you enjoy doing, and do not worry about what others think about your goals/passions.

Bella Smith & Our Community

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)

I love the Waukesha County Fair. Every summer I attend the fair, and show my Nigerian Dwarf Goats. This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and recognize youth in agriculture in our County.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

My favorite shop is Molly’s Gluten-Free Bakery due to my Celiac diagnosis. They have my favorite sweet treats!

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Our community is beautiful, caring, and nature-focused.

For Fun

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My sister because she spent hundreds of hours volunteering in various organizations in Lake Country and helped me start my own journey volunteering years ago.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Cage diving with great white sharks off the coast of Africa.

Q: What makes you the happiest?

I enjoy reading books, specifically fictional tales, in the summer by the pool.
