Mike Brown

Meet Mike Brown

Mike Brown grew up in Germantown. He started working in the restaurant industry at the age of 15. The first task at his first job was to toast the hamburger buns. Mike learned a lot from his boss and worked his way up to management. He was a manager and general manager for 12 years before becoming the owner of Bubba’s. Getting to meet and interact with different people is the best part of his job, plus, each day is different. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, and enjoys all things outdoors.

About Bubba’s!

Bubba’s Frozen Custard was founded in October of 1998. They have proudly served fresh frozen custard, custom made, flame-broiled, 1/3 lb jumbo burgers and handcrafted shakes and malts from one convenient location in Pewaukee, Wisconsin ever since.

Bubba’s is dedicated to using the finest ingredients in making what they consider the finest burgers and custard in the area. Stop in and give them a try! Whether it’s a classic Bubbaburger, Chicago Dog, or one of their unique offerings like the Wisconsin Cheesehead Burger or Port Wine Cheddar Burger, they have something to satisfy your cravings. Don’t forget to save room for dessert! A little taste of sweet goodness in Lake Country, Bubba’s serves up creamy custard that can sometimes result in long lines, but it’s worth the wait.

Community/Charity Initiatives

Mike Brown actively seeks new ways to give back to his community. He is very creative and has that unique ability to inspire others.

I met Mike at a fundraiser that was held at his restaurant. It truly was an honor to meet such a humble, loyal and dedicated business owner who is so passionate about his community and the people who live and work in this community. Without hesitation, Mike did everything possible to make this fundraiser a huge success and his staff was absolutely superb. Not only does Mike do numerous fundraisers throughout the year, but he also supports Pewaukee Youth Baseball, the local Firefighters Auxiliary, the Pewaukee 4th of July Celebration, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin and numerous other charities.

Pewaukee has welcomed Bubba’s and provided them the opportunity to serve their community and the world. They are grateful and are committed to giving back.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My wife, Nicole, and I will be celebrating our 9th anniversary this summer. We have two, energetic sons, Walker, 8, and Lincoln, 4. In addition, we have two chocolate labs, Brewer and Rowdy, named after our favorite team, the Milwaukee Brewers! Outside of immediate family, I have 3 brothers who still live in the area and 7 nieces and nephews I enjoy spending time with. I have a large extended family and many aunts, uncles and cousins, since mom had 12 siblings, and dad had 3.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I will have worked in the Pewaukee area for 6 years this summer, but I always frequented the area before I took over Bubba’s Frozen Custard from my uncle and aunt, who started this local business almost 25 years ago.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

I don’t think I can pick just one person I’ve met in this community. Everyone I have interacted with has been great and I have built many relationships with so many interesting and supportive people.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Bubba’s. I remember going there when I was 9 years old for their soft opening. Growing up my family would go to Bubba’s whenever we were in the Pewaukee area. I also remember getting Bubba’s frozen custard at all of our family events growing up.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

The Lake Country community has so many family-friendly events through the calendar year. This community also always comes together and supports each other. We are a friendly and neighborly community that shows up for each other when it truly counts.

FOR FUN

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

One of my favorite meals is pizza or pasta. So, a few local favorites include Rosati’s, Marty’s Pizza, and Albanese’s.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Guy’s Grocery Games and Wheel of Fortune are family-favorites in our home. In addition, I enjoy watching MASH reruns and Gold Rush. My all-time favorite movies are both Top Guns, Pearl Harbor, Titantic, and Armageddon.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Being raised on the Golden Rule, I strive to follow and share the idea of treating others the way I would want to be treated. I also think it’s important to live every day as if it was your last.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I would love to have lunch with Guy Fieri to pick his brain on all his successes and failures and learn from him. He is someone in the culinary business who has had a lot of success and has many different endeavors. As far as a place to have this lunch, I would let him pick. There are so many great establishments in our community that he couldn’t pick wrong!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Fixing the fryer at Bubba’s! Meaning, I plan to continue running this great, local, family-friendly establishment that has been around for such a long time. I enjoy what I do, and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. I look forward to serving our community for many, many years to come.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Something interesting that most people don’t know about me is that I have a very wide range of musical taste. One favorite is Fleetwood Mac, which is why we have the station playing at Bubba’s that we do- they play a lot of this classic band! However, I’m not afraid to admit I like Nickelback and Taylor Swift!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

My wife, who supports me and has been by my side for 19 years.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My sons. I try to instill a strong work ethic and love of life to my sons each day. Everything I do is because of them and to create a family-friendly staple in the Lake Country community that will be around for years to come. Little boys look up to their dads, which is a lot to live up to. I want to help build a community and create a world where people are genuine and supportive, so my boys have this experience growing up.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Family, Fun, Refuge.
