About Scott Rauguth

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My wife, Mary and I will celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary this year. We raised our daughter Vanessa here for the majority of her life. She now resides in Denver.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

As a local business owner of Brews Wine & Spirits, my path was decided by a need in the local community for a stand alone liquor provider. Previous to opening Brew Wine & Spirits, I worked in the restaurant industry. That led me to working for a beer distributor followed up by working with a wine/spirits distributor.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

I love connecting with people in any aspect and my store. It’s a great platform for getting to know my customers, many who have become friends. My customers look for product satisfaction in both the quality and the price of the items selected. I call that a win for both of us!!

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

Building a local business from the ground up with all the associated learning curves. We did much of the build out of the store including building all the wood shelving and installing all the tiles. It was a labor of love.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Happy satisfied customers over the last 17 years and many new friendships.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

Creating customer excitement with new products and continuing our in-store weekly tastings of beer, spirits & wine.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Be well educated in the service/liquor industries, business regulations and the local community. First, work within whatever industry you are interested in, and see if it’s a good fit for you.
