Mapleton Barn hosts everything from unique country weddings to memorable family celebrations and corporate events, it provides a charming atmosphere for people to gather and celebrate. The nearly 100 year old structure has original barn boards and exposed beams, and is owned by Sasha Darby.

We’d like to thank Sasha for taking a few minutes to talk with us about her experiences in Lake Country.

Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “It was two fold, the idea of creating a beautiful, more intimate event space, and to save an old barn. I have a background in park and recreation.”

Q. What is your favorite restaurant in Lake Country, and what do you love there?
A. “The breakfast specials at Glenda’s Cafe in Okauchee.”

Q. What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?
A. “Braveheart”.

Q. What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A. “We should all slow down and be in the present, enjoy the present.”

Q. What is something on your bucket list?
A. “To see more of the world.”

Q. Name three bands you would like to see (dead or alive).
A. “Rolling Stones, Bob Marley and Pearl Jam”.

Q. Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?  Why?  Where in Lake Country would you have lunch?
A. “Ellen DeGeneres. She’s hilarious, inspiring and kind, and I’d like to eat lunch with her at Belfre Kitchen in Delafield.”

Q. What is your favorite thing or something unique about Lake Country?
A. “Lake Country has a cozy, rural feel, yet it is still close to the big city.”

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A. “Right here doing what I’m doing, touching the community in a unique way.”

Q. Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A. “I lived on an island in Maine for a summer, leading kids on expedition trips.”

Q. If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A. “Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman”.
