Sheri Sparks

In the wake of unimaginable loss, this mother’s journey through grief has transformed into a beacon of hope and compassion for others. After tragically losing her child while attending a Christmas parade, she found solace in channeling her sorrow into something purposeful. With unwavering strength, she courageously established a baseball foundation in honor of her beloved son, creating a legacy that transcends tragedy. Through this foundation, she spreads joy and positivity by gifting children in the area with baseball merchandise, igniting smiles where there were once tears. In choosing to honor her son’s memory in such a meaningful way, she not only heals her own heart but also brings light and happiness to countless others. Her resilience and selflessness serve as a testament to the transformative power of love, inspiring all who encounter her story to find hope and purpose in the face of adversity.

Sheri Sparks is a devoted mom and wife who has called Mukwonago home for 14 years, and she absolutely loves it there. Family is her top priority, and her children mean the world to her. Recognizing that life is unpredictable and fleeting, she values every moment, never taking anything for granted. Her approach is to appreciate the good and positive aspects of life and to love deeply.

A Message from Jackson’s Family!

Jackson’s birthday falls on April 2nd, and this year, we’re honoring him with “Random Acts of Kindness” across the community! We’re inspired by the love and kindness spread to strangers, all to celebrate and remember Jackson on his special day. Whether the gestures are big or small, they warm this mama’s heart immensely, and I know Jackson would be incredibly proud!

About Sheri Sparks

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My husband Aaron and I have been married for 15 years as of this July. We have a son named Tucker who is 14 years old and will be starting high school next year; he’s really into sports. I also have two children, Jackson and Jada, who are both in heaven. Additionally, I consider myself a dog mom to Qira, who is my baby. I have a close bond with my extended family and friends, who have supported me through difficult times. I cherish every moment I spend with them.

Q: Please tell us about your life and what you do (whether working in our community, a business owner, volunteer, etc.). How did you choose that path?

I am a stay-at-home mom and one of the founders of the Jackson Sparks Foundation, which we established in memory of my son, Jackson. Our foundation grants baseball-themed wishes to children who have faced tragedy or serious illness. This is our way of giving back for the tremendous support we received after losing Jackson.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

I find immense joy in witnessing the smiles and happiness on the faces of these remarkable and resilient children as they unwrap their gifts, as well as connecting with their families. Despite the challenges they’ve endured, they’ve gained a profound understanding of life’s true priorities. Their genuine joy and the sparkle in their eyes are truly heartwarming, and I feel privileged to create these special moments for them. Additionally, during each of our fundraising events, I make it a point to pause and reflect on the overwhelming support we receive. It’s humbling to see our extended network of family, friends, acquaintances, and fellow members of the baseball community come together with smiles on their faces, lending a hand and offering their support. The warmth of their laughter and conversation fills me with gratitude. I’m deeply thankful to everyone who has stood by us through thick and thin. While I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, I feel incredibly blessed to have such an amazing support system.

Q: What was the most difficult challenge in getting to where you are now or in your life?

Losing a child is an unimaginable pain that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. Experiencing it twice… it’s a heavy burden to bear. Over 15 years ago, I lost my daughter, and though I eventually found peace with that loss, life took a tragic turn when I nearly lost both of my boys. It’s a life-altering experience that changes your perspective. You begin to see life more clearly, cherishing your loved ones and focusing on what truly matters. It’s a reminder not to dwell on negativity but to prioritize kindness and love. You never know the battles someone else may be facing.

Q: What is the most rewarding part?

Once more, it’s the joy and smiles that bring comfort. It’s also about preserving Jackson’s memory. As parents who’ve lost a child, there’s a constant fear of them being forgotten.

Q: What are some of your future goals? Do you have anything exciting coming up that you would like to share?

Every year, the Jackson Sparks Foundation organizes an annual Home Run Derby to raise funds and fulfill baseball dreams for children who have faced trauma or loss. This year, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with the Mukwonago Lions at their Summerfeste event on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. Bringing the derby to Mukwonago, Jackson’s hometown, feels like coming full circle, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Q: What advice would you give to someone interested in doing something similar to what you have done/are doing?

Surround yourself with those you love and trust. While it’s tempting to let anger and sadness take over, don’t allow it! Dwelling in darkness and loneliness is tough to break free from. Instead, concentrate on the positives. I’ve made the choice to live a life that makes my kids proud, striving to do something positive in honor of Jackson.

Sheri Sparks & Our Community

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community, favorite thing to do, or something unique about our community that you love? (Feel free to share as much as you’d like!)

I enjoy attending the local festivals and farmers markets during the summer, as well as the Christmas and holiday festivities in the winter. There’s such a variety of activities to choose from. From the delicious food and live music to the booths filled with homemade creations, and, of course, the chance to meet new people—it’s all a wonderful experience. Our community is brimming with incredible and compassionate individuals. What makes the Lake Country area especially appealing is the blend of small-town charm with easy access to shopping and conveniences nearby.

Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?

It’s difficult to single out just one person because I’ve encountered countless individuals who have inspired me in various ways. Whether it’s the dedicated coffee shop owners, the brave members of our local police and fire departments, or the nurturing teachers at our schools, each has left an imprint on me. I’ve learned invaluable lessons and found inspiration from all walks of life. I consider myself fortunate to now count some of them as my friends.

Q: Do you have a favorite coffee shop, cocktail shop, or restaurant?

Espresso Love Coffee and Fork in the Road are two of my favorite local spots. Of course, there are many more that I adore as well.

Q: What 3 words would you use to describe our community?

Friendly – Fun – Home.

For Fun

Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, poem, or song? Why?

My top movie picks are Gladiator and Avengers. When it comes to TV shows, Tucker and I enjoy watching Bigfoot documentaries together, while I also love Modern Family and Grimm. As for books, I gravitate towards supernatural romance stories. And when it comes to music, I have a diverse taste, often choosing depending on my mood.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My kids, family, friends… I want to make them proud.

Q:  If you were a drink (can be a coffee drink, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, etc.), what would you be?

People who know me well will find this amusing… but a Red Bull is my daily fuel. I’m always on the move or busy with various activities. Perhaps adding some vodka would help me to slow down a bit?

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with? Why?

My grandma Graff, Jackson, and Jada. Just one more lunch with any or all of them… I would give anything to hear their voices again and hug them one more time.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

I would love to rent a beach house, right on the beach, and spend a week there with my family or go on a moms/girls trip.

Q: What makes you the happiest?

I find so much joy in watching Tucker play baseball, his passion for the game shines through. Soccer matches are equally thrilling! And there’s something incredibly peaceful about spending time at the beach—it’s my favorite place to unwind.

Q: Any general life advice you would like to share?

Be kind… love one another… life is too short. Don’t be a jerk.
